COURSE OUTLINE

Barbour Creek Shooting Academy’s Long Range Hunting Course – This course is designed with the shooter that is new to long range hunting. This course is for the Long range beginner and for even the most seasoned shooter. Our Instruction is designed to build on each Training level and has 50% classroom and 50% range time each day. You will learn everything you need to know about: Rifle Components, Scopes, MOA, 1st and 2nd Focal Plane, Max Range on Animals, Proper Shooting Techniques, Internal and External Ballistics, Air Pressure/Density, Using a Ballistic Program, Correct Spotting Techniques, Cleaning and Maintenance, Ammunition, Powder Selection for Long-Range Hunting, Wind calling, reading and Mirage Basics, Bullet Types for Long-Range Hunting, Operating Rangefinders and using a Ballistic Rangefinder, and more!

 

The Average LHC Student will feel Confident Shooting Steel out to 1000 Yards and Hunting out to 800 Yards
80 rounds of ammunition are provided.

In this course, students learn to identify their limits when shooting at game.

 WHAT YOU’LL LEARN

  • Head and Tailwind

  • Aerodynamic Jump

  • Lethality Max Range on Animals

  • Understanding terrain and wind 

  • Shooting from alternate positions

  • Manual ranging of animals

  • Measuring animals for trophy hunting using a scope

  • Max Terminal Performance on Animals

  • Operating and programming Rangefinders 

  • Using Rain Angle for Wind Speed

  • Truing Velocities and Drop scale factor

  • Danger area when manual ranging and ranging errors

  • Angles explained and calculated

  • Wound cavity production

  • Internal ballistics and mild reloading

  • Back up shooting ballistics

  • This course is geared towards more time in-field shooting and practicing wind

Please arrive between 4:00 and 9:00 pm the night before and stop by the office to check-in

 

Dinner is at 6:00 pm

Closest: Columbus, GA (CSG) 45 minutes from the farm- most car rental companies are at this location

Largest: Atlanta, GA (ATL) 2.5 hours from the farm- most car rental companies are at this location

Private: Weedon Field in Eufaula – call us for pick up

LEVEL 1 & 2 COURSE SCHEDULE

GUNS AND AMMUNITION

Guns and 80 rounds of ammunition are provided for the class.

You are welcome to bring your own gun and ammo to shoot after class (NO 50 CAL)

 

CANCELLATION AND CHARGE POLICY

The weekend class are non-refundable and must have a minimum of 8 students in them, Barbourcreek retains the right to reschedule if the minimum is not met.

Deposit becomes non-refundable within 30 days of the class date, please call if you need to reschedule.  

2.5% CREDIT CARD PROCESSING FEE.

If a weekday class has less than 4 people or a weekend class of 8 people in it, we may cancel or request a reschedule.
